How We Met
Just another ordinary day in New York City. The earth was revolving around the sun, everything in it’s right place. Two people in Brooklyn decide they want to try their hand at internet dating. Using the site Nerve.com, they were placed among the mesh of other music loving, artistic nature types that might be found on Nerve. And one particularly fine day, Julie finds this rather handsome, dapper young man. His photo shows him with a huge flower in his lapel jacket. Curious. And. Interesting. So the girl takes a look at his profile page and sees he has a lot of the same music, movie, and all together adventure that she has. Rushmore. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Badly Drawn Boy. Blur. Hmmm. Maybe. Just Maybe.
Only 5 miles away in Brooklyn, the boy notices that someone has recently looked at his profile! Curious as to who this young lass may be, he clicks the link to HER profile page and notices many things. 01. How extremely pretty she is. 02. Her bangs…omg, so cute. 03. SHE HAS THE SAME COUCH AS ME! 04. Whoah, she’s the exact same age as me. The boy also notices the same music, movie and adventure tastes in her profile. Whoah. Awesome. So he sends her a “wink” from nerve…a small little icon of a smiley face winking….cute, I know…and see how it goes from there.
Julie get’s this wink icon and smiles big time. Aha! So he’s interested! Well, let’s see where this goes. Throwing caution to the wind, she sends Benny and small introductory email, saying hello, and giving him props on his choice of lapel flowers.
Benny receives said message that day and smiles even bigger. SO! SHE WANTS ME!! Yes. He responds in his usually charming, playful manner, but he does notice that there is indeed something different about this girl. He ends the email asking her out for a cocktail…perhaps a bite to eat…and mentions that she has the exact same couch he does. Hmmm…I wonder.
Several dates later and more adventures than can even be counted, a year and a half have gone by. As well as Christmas’, New Years, Bdays, Halloweens and dance parties in the frontroom. And here they are. Two young brave souls on the verge of greatness, on the enveloping throws of love, making their vows to each other on October 2nd, 2010!
Although you couldn’t really feel it, the universe DID in fact change that day, when two young lovers found each other. Thank you, Internet. Thank you.
